2012: Tianjin, China sets up 1st Rh negative blood donation site

Imagine being blood type O negative and living in a country where only 1 in 1,000 people can donate blood to you.
That is the reality many expats are living with in Asia and thanks to increased awareness, many communities are being set up worldwide to ensure that people of all blood types are being provided with a supply in case they ever need a transfusion.

People show their certifications of Rh negative blood donation at Tianjin United Family Healthcare in Tianjin Municipality, north China, March 17, 2012. The city’s first Rh negative blood donation site was set up here Saturday. More than 70 teachers from an international school donated blood at the site.
