Von Dungern was born in&nbsp;W\u00fcrzburg&nbsp;and died in&nbsp;Ludwigshafen am Bodensee. In 1910\u201311, E. von Dungern and&nbsp;Ludwik Hirszfeld&nbsp;discovered the heritability of&nbsp;ABO blood groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Interest in the theory faded in the 1930s. It was revived in the 1970s with a book by&nbsp;Masahiko Nomi, a journalist with no medical background (he graduated from the engineering department of the University of Tokyo).
