The cancer was treated by destroying the tissue with a hot instrument called &#8220;the fire drill.&#8221; Today, we call this &#8220;cauterization.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nOverall, there was an increase in cancer incidence of almost 30%&nbsp;<strong>between 1973 and 2015<\/strong>.
