Their territory included present-day Norfolk and parts of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, and bordered the area of the Corieltauvi to the west, and the Catuvellauni and Trinovantes to the south.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sir Thomas Browne, the first English archaeological writer, said of the Roman occupation, Boudica and Iceni coins:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>That&nbsp;<em>Britain<\/em>&nbsp;was notably populous is undeniable, from that expression of&nbsp;<em>Caesar<\/em>. That the Romans themselves were early in no small Numbers, Seventy Thousand with their associates slain by&nbsp;<em>Bouadicea<\/em>, affords a sure account&#8230; And no small number of silver pieces near Norwich; with a rude head upon the obverse, an ill-formed horse on the reverse, with the Inscriptions&nbsp;<em>Ic. Duro.T.<\/em>&nbsp;whether implying&nbsp;<em>Iceni, Durotriges, Tascia,<\/em>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<em>Trinobantes<\/em>, we leave to higher conjecture. They produced some of the earliest known British coins. They had revolted against the Romans in 47 when the Roman governor Publius Ostorius Scapula planned to disarm all the peoples of Britain under Roman control.
