VWF binds factor VIII, a key clotting protein, and platelets in blood vessel walls, which help form a platelet plug during the clotting process. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Patients with\u00a0<strong>blood type O<\/strong>\u00a0have been shown to have lower levels of\u00a0<strong>von Willebrand factor<\/strong>, a\u00a0<strong>blood<\/strong>\u00a0clotting agent, than those with other\u00a0<strong>blood types<\/strong>.
