It is mainly concentrated among the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tuareg_people\">Tuareg<\/a>&nbsp;inhabiting the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Gorom-Gorom\">Gorom-Gorom<\/a>&nbsp;area in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Burkina_Faso\">Burkina Faso<\/a>&nbsp;(21%),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sahrawi_people\">Sahrawi<\/a>&nbsp;in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Western_Sahara\">Western Sahara<\/a>&nbsp;(17.9%),&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Berbers\">Berbers<\/a>&nbsp;of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Matmata,_Tunisia\">Matmata, Tunisia<\/a>&nbsp;(16.3%).&nbsp;The rare V7a subclade occurs among&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Algeria\">Algerians<\/a>&nbsp;in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Oran\">Oran<\/a>&nbsp;(1.08%) and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reguibat_tribe\">Reguibate<\/a>&nbsp;Sahrawi (1.85%). <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Haplogroup V is a relatively rare mtDNA haplogroup, occurring in around 4% of native Europeans.&nbsp;Its highest concentration is among the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sami_people\">Saami<\/a>&nbsp;people of northern&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Scandinavia\">Scandinavia<\/a>&nbsp;(~59%).
