Neanderthal DNA discovered within the Yoruba people of Africa

According to several studies, Neanderthal DNA exists in all Europeans at a frequency of 1-3% as well as in Asians. Alongside those studies, the claim was made that Neanderthal DNA is absent in Africa.

Recent studies revealed that this is not correct.

Neanderthal genetic signal deep into the homeland. Indeed one of Reich’s analyses, published last month, found Neanderthal traces in Yoruba DNA (Nature, DOI: 10.1038/nature12886).

The Yoruba people have also been singled out as a group with a high percentage of rh negatives.
