One function Rh proteins may have is transport of gasses. Supply of oxygen and ridding our system of CO2. If you wear a mask hindering intake of O2 and causing excessive inhalation of extra CO2, long-term effects can occur.

Hypoxia, or reduced oxygen to the brain, can cause long–term disabilities and developmental delays. Severe oxygen deprivation or anoxia, which is the term for no oxygen reaching the brain, can also cause disabilities or even death.

    Is there any reason to think that anoxia may have been the cause of the original Rh D gene deletion?

    I recognize that this means thinking outside of the conventional box on genetics.

    There is evidence to support the view that the area around the Black Sea once experienced a very severe plague affliction. The Black Sea is/was highly anoxic. It might be more than a coincidence.
